Reciting the end of one sura in the first rak‘a and the beginning of another in the second
Question
An imam, in the first rak‘a of the dawn prayer, recited the last ruku‘ (section) of Surah Ya Sin and then recited in full the first ruku‘ of the next sura adjoining it, al-Saffat. Is the prayer valid when this is done or not?
Answer
Reciting in this way does not make the prayer fasid; rather, it is valid. However, reciting a whole sura in one rak‘a is better (afdal).
