Hadath in the final sitting after the tashahhud

Question

If, in a nafl prayer, the wudu breaks in the final sitting (qa‘da) after the “al-Tahiyyat” and the salawat, will the prayer be valid, or should one perform wudu again, recite the “al-Tahiyyat” and the salawat and then give the salam?

Answer

It is better to repeat [the prayer]. It is also permitted to perform wudu and do bina’ (build on the prayer already performed), that is, to perform wudu and give the salam; but its conditions are strict and ordinary people are not acquainted with them, so repeating is what is better.
