The prayer of the masbuq-lahiq

Question

If a resident (muqim) follows a traveller (musafir) imam while three of his rak‘as have been missed, how should this resident muqtadi now perform the remaining three rak‘as?

Answer

From the texts of the jurists, different positions emerge on this: some have regarded this person as a masbuq, some call him a masbuq-lahiq, and some have regarded him as only a lahiq. The details are given in “al-Durr al-Mukhtar” and “Tahtawi”.
