The imamate of one who had a pregnancy aborted
Question
A man married a virgin girl. After two months it came to light, an examination was carried out, and it turned out that the wife had a pregnancy of five or six months from haram. Then, regarding this pregnancy as something odious, he deliberately had it aborted and then, “turning it over” (?), performed the nikah again. Is prayer behind him now permissible or not?
Answer
In the case asked about, the nikah was already valid; there was no need to perform the nikah again after having the pregnancy aborted. However, it was not right to have intercourse before the delivery. Deliberately aborting a pregnancy in such a situation is a grave sin. If he did this despite having knowledge, he must repent.
