The adhan was called at the start of the time — should it be repeated?

Question

These days, according to the perpetual prayer calendar, the time of ‘asr begins at a quarter past four. It so happened that Zayd called the ‘asr adhan at four o’clock. Is it now necessary to repeat this adhan, or, acting on the view of the Sahibayn (Imam Abu Yusuf and Imam Muhammad), will it be deemed sufficient?

Answer

The more cautious course (ahwat) is to call the adhan again, since repeating the adhan is legitimate (mashru‘). Yet even if the adhan was not called again, it will not be said that the congregation took place without an adhan, because according to the Sahibayn the time had [already] begun.
