Adhān before its time
Question
There is a dispute: on Friday, January 25, the imam gave the adhān at 12:28. The mosque president objects, saying it should be given at 12:30 because that is when the time begins. He argues that in places like Karimnagar and Hyderabad, the adhān is given at 12:30. The imam says the time of zawāl changes according to the season. Please clarify.
Answer
The Friday adhān, like any adhān, is not valid before the prescribed time. It should be given after the sun passes its zenith (zawāl). The time of zawāl is not the same in every place or season; it varies and changes.
