Should one making wudu recite the wudu supplications or respond to the adhan?

Question

Zayd began his wudu and the mu’adhdhin began the adhan. Which is better for this person making wudu: to recite the wudu supplication or to respond to the adhan?

Answer

Responding to the adhan is better, because the imperative form is used for it [in the hadith]: [ar]قُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ[/ar] “Say the like of what the mu’adhdhin says.”
