If the mosque has no imam or mu'adhdhin, one should pray there with adhan and iqama
Question
If the mosque is about two furlongs from the house, and there is no fixed prayer time there, no imam, no mu'adhdhin, nothing at all — in such a situation, if one calls the adhan at home and holds a congregation at home consisting of his wife, mother and children, then obviously the mother or the wife will say the iqama. Is this makruh? And will the congregation be better, or praying individually?
Answer
In such a situation it is better (afdal) to go to the mosque and pray there after calling the adhan and the iqama, even if one gets to pray there alone, because this keeps the mosque alive. Praying at home, alone or in congregation, will not bring that merit. When holding a congregation at home, since the man becomes the imam, he should say the iqama himself as well.
