The adhan in a settlement of non-Muslims
Question
In a village where there is no mosque and the sound of the adhan is not heard, and moreover Hindus are in the majority, may one pray there without the adhan or not? And what is the ruling on living there?
Answer
If one is not able to call the adhan in a very loud voice, he should call it in a low voice. The adhan is a sunna; the prayer is valid even without the adhan, but the sunna is abandoned.
