Reciting the Qur’an Near the Deceased

Question

Zayd has passed away. Is it permissible to recite the Qur’an at his head-side or near him until the time of the [funeral] ghusl, or not?

Answer

This is makruh (disliked); recitation should be done at some distance [from the deceased]. (Radd al-Muhtar, vol. 1, p. 892.)
