Reciting the Qur’an with Betel and Tobacco in the Mouth
Question
Having eaten betel containing tobacco, may a person recite the Qur’an in the mosque or elsewhere, or not — given that the betel was eaten so as not to fall asleep?
Answer
What proper reverence and respect require is that recitation be performed with a clean mouth, and that one imagine that one is reciting the Noble Qur’an so that Allah Most High may hear it — then, if Allah Most High wills, sleep will not come.
