Sitting Near a Staircase While Reciting the Qur’an
Question
Zayd continually recites the Noble Qur’an on the floor of the mosque. Nearby, at a distance of some four or five yards, there is a large staircase, which lies within the bounds of the mosque; people continually go up and down this staircase. Zayd has covered the Noble Qur’an with a cloth. In this case, will there be disrespect toward the Noble Qur’an?
Answer
In such a case, going up and down the staircase is permissible, but it is better that he recite the Noble Qur’an while sitting at a distance.
