The Ruling on Deliberately Throwing the Qur'an on the Ground

Question

Question: A certain woman is foolish and lacks understanding. She deliberately picked up the Holy Qur’an, took it in her hands, and threw it on the ground. What is the ruling regarding her, and what is the ruling on keeping this woman in the household [as a wife]?

Answer

The woman who has deliberately committed this act of disrespect towards the Noble Qur’an should be made to recite the blessed kalima and make repentance (tawba), and her marriage contract (nikah) should also be renewed.
