Entering the Toilet While Carrying a Pocket Copy of the Qur’an

Question

Question: A certain man has a small pocket copy of the Qur’an with him, and he is in need of relieving himself (major istinja). What should he do?

Answer

Let him remove the pocket copy of the Qur’an from himself and place it somewhere with honour and respect, and then relieve himself. If there is no suitable place to set it down and the Qur’an is in his pocket, and he sits in a clean spot in an isolated place and relieves himself [in that state], there will be no sin on him.
