Marrying the Sister of a Milk Sister

Question

Zayd and ‘Umar are two full brothers, and Hinda was an unrelated girl. She drank milk together with Zayd, and so he became her milk brother. Can this girl now marry ‘Umar or not? Can Zayd marry Hinda’s sister or not? Is it permissible for ‘Umar to marry Hinda’s sister or not? Please write with references to the books.

Answer

Hinda’s nikah is valid neither with Zayd nor with ‘Umar, because she is the milk sister of both of them. However, with Hinda’s sister (who did not drink the milk of the mother of Zayd and ‘Umar) the nikah of Zayd is valid, and the nikah of ‘Umar is valid as well.
