Statements Concerning Prohibition by Affinity

Question

A man, Muhammad Umar, married a widow (mutawaffa ‘anha zawjuha) who is pregnant, before she gave birth, because of which the religious Muslims cut off relations with him. Moreover, this widow’s maternal uncle said that this Muhammad Umar’s herdsman told him: “Zina has taken place with this widow by the one of this man who married her who is from his first wife; I saw it; I will come and give testimony wherever you say.

Answer

This question came some days ago as well; then too there was mutual contradiction (tadafu‘) in it, and now too there is contradiction on the part of the witnesses: the claimant on his own reports that they saw the zina, but when he records their statements, they contain a denial of having seen the zina.
