A Father-in-Law Pressing His Son’s Wife’s Chest to His Own
Question
The following incidents took place between Lal Miyan Sarang and his daughter-in-law. In this case, has the prohibition by affinity (hurmat al-musahara) been established or not? Halima’s sworn statement before the court: First incident. About a month ago, one day before noon, my father-in-law came from the field, that is, from the land, to the steps of the pond to bathe. At that time I was carrying grass from inside the house. He said to me, “Bring me my clothes.” I brought the clothes.
Answer
If Halima’s husband confirms her statement that her father-in-law touched her with desire, and he has certainty or a predominant supposition (zann ghalib) that Halima is truthful, then she has become haram for her husband. Mutaraka (relinquishment of the marriage)
