The Prohibition of Nikah with a Consanguine and a Uterine Sister
Question
Are the relations mentioned in the Noble Qur’an concerning nikah or veiling only full-blood relatives, or distant ones as well?
Answer
In the Noble Qur’an, nikah with a sister, a paternal aunt, a maternal aunt, a brother’s daughter and a sister’s daughter is haram, and here all three kinds of sister are meant. The first is ‘ayni, i.e. one who shares both mother and father, called a full sister. The second is ‘allati (consanguine), i.e. the father is one and the mothers are two. The third is akhyafi (uterine)
