Remarrying a Former Divorcee out of Necessity When the Parents Are Displeased
Question
Thirteen years ago I married the daughter of my uncle, my father’s elder brother. For two years life went very happily, but after just two years, because of family discord, I had to divorce her (talaq). At the time of the divorce she was expecting my second child. Then she began to live keeping both children with her. Meanwhile I married a second time. Her parents too married her off elsewhere. Concern for her children weighed on her, and under this distress she was divorced there as well.
Answer
Since this poor woman’s tie with her second husband has also ended, she has been left without support, and a life together with you is possible; moreover, you intend to maintain equality in the rights of both of them, and there is also hope that by marrying her the family enmity will end and reconciliation will come about — then marry her again.
