It emerged after the nikah that the wife's mental balance is not sound
Question
Zayd's wife passed away. Domestic difficulties increased, because of which the need arose for a second marriage, which Zayd mentioned to his relatives. Making efforts over a few days, these people found a match quite far away — a divorced woman. Zayd was entirely unacquainted and unfamiliar with the people of this match. His close relatives expressed such delight at this match that Zayd became willing to conclude this union.
Answer
Nothing is mentioned in this account on account of which the nikah could be called invalid. Zayd should keep reforming her gradually with good character and gentleness. If the circumstances are such that living together is difficult and the marital rights cannot be fulfilled, there is no harm in divorcing her (talaq) and setting her free.
