A Nikah Concluded at the Young Man’s Home

Question

A man went to the home of a young man of a landowning family and married his daughter to him there. It took place with lawful conditions: present there were the young man’s parents and the young man, the girl’s parents and the girl, and the respected scholar who performed the nikah. The need to go to the young man’s home arose because the members of the biradari (kinship community) were insisting on marrying her off elsewhere. Has this nikah been validly concluded?

Answer

If the young man and the girl, the parents of both and witnesses were present, and the offer and acceptance (ijab and qabul) of the nikah took place with everyone’s consent in accordance with the Shari‘a, then, even though it took place in someone’s house, it has undoubtedly become valid and effective according to the Shari‘a.
