One who calls the Eidgah his own field
Question
If a Muslim, in anger, says about the Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer): “This Eidgah is mine; I will plough it and raise a crop on it; this is my field — let us see who comes to pray the Eid prayer in it,” what fatwa of the Shari‘a applies to such a person?
Answer
No one has the right to say such words about an Eidgah that is a waqf for the Eid prayer. Whoever says this speaks wrongly. And if he actually ploughs and cultivates it and does not allow the Eid prayer to be performed, then he is an oppressor and a usurper (ghasib), and a grave sinner. And Allah Most High knows best.
