The Eid prayer in a mosque
Question
(1) Always performing the Eid prayers in the mosque and, despite there being an Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) outside, not going out, and telling people that there is no need to go out, even though there is no excuse at all. (Ihtiyat al-zuhr) (2) Regarding the one who leaves the precautionary Zuhr after the Jumu'a as blameworthy, and even slapping a fatwa of kufr on him and reviling him severely? Does the one who leaves the precautionary prayer become a kafir or not?
Answer
(1) Performing the Eid prayer by going out to the Eidgah is sunna. If there is an excuse, it is valid in the mosque as well; and if it is performed in the mosque without an excuse, the prayer is indeed valid, but the merit of following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is not attained; moreover, there are some other benefits (masalih)
