Selling an Eidgah Because It Has Come Within the Settlement
Question
Because the Eidgah (open ground for the Eid prayer) has come within the settlement, people want to demolish it and move it outside the settlement. What we wish to ask is this: may the Eidgah be demolished and its land sold for general use — for building some shops, houses and the like — or not? Or should the Eidgah be made into a mosque?
Answer
If that Eidgah is a waqf, then selling its land is not permissible. Merely because it has come within the settlement, there is no need for any change to it: leave it as it is.
