With what intention should a villager go to the town on Friday?

Question

If a person lives in a village and goes to the town for his own business, and it is Friday — whether he does his business and [then] prays Jumu'a, or does his business after Jumu'a — I have heard that he does not receive the full reward. Is this correct?

Answer

If he has some business in a place where Jumu'a is held, and that business can also be done after Jumu'a, and he is setting out from a place where Jumu'a is not held, then the best course is to go with the intention of Jumu'a and attend to his business along the way. If he makes the intention for both — for Jumu'a and for the business — that too is correct.
