Jumu'a and the Eid prayers in a settlement without a mosque
Question
The village of Nagal Patti Bhagwanpur has a population of five thousand, but no mosque. However, in Patti Bhagwanpur an elementary religious school has been set up, and there is strong hope that a mosque will be built; there are enough worshippers. Can the Jumu'a prayer and the Eid prayers be held in it or not?
Answer
If this is a single settlement, then according to the Shari'a the Jumu'a and Eid prayers there are valid. The Muslims should build a mosque, and until the mosque is built they should pray Jumu'a in some other place, for example in the elementary religious school, in such a way that no one is prevented from coming there — rather, whoever wishes may come for the prayer.
