The Funeral Prayer over the Prophet ﷺ

Question

Who led the funeral prayer over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, given that it is an accepted fact that the prophets ﵈ are buried in the very place where they die?

Answer

There was no imam at the funeral prayer over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: people kept coming without an imam and performing the prayer. This was [his] instruction. The narrations [on this] are found in “Ithaf al-Sada al-Muttaqin” (vol. 10, p. 304), “Fath al-Bari”, “‘Umdat al-Qari” and other books.
