Sitting for Du‘a after the Funeral Prayer
Question
Some people sit down after the funeral prayer and make du‘a. What is the ruling on this — is it correct or not?
Answer
This is not established. I have not seen any instruction for it anywhere — neither in the Noble Qur’an, nor in the noble hadith, nor in the books of fiqh — even though the books of fiqh mention even minor mustahabb acts; rather, in some books du‘a after the funeral prayer has been prohibited (because the funeral prayer is itself a du‘a for the deceased).
