The funeral prayer for Hazrat Khadija ﵂

Question

The funeral prayer was not performed over Hazrat Khadija ﵂, the pure wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Had the rulings concerning the funeral prayer not yet been revealed at that time? Or, after the revelation came, was the funeral prayer performed over her grave or not, as [stated] in “Shahnama-e Islam” (“The Epic of Islam”) by Hafeez Jalandhari?

Answer

I do not have Hafeez’s “Shahnama”. At the time of Hazrat Khadija’s ﵂ death the funeral prayer had not yet been legislated (“al-Tahtawi”, p. 318). The funeral prayer was not performed over those who died in Makka the Venerated — thus in “Awjaz al-Masalik” (vol. 2, p. 421). The performance of a prayer over her grave has not come to my notice.
