Killing one’s wife for fear of the enemy

Question

Kafirs are attacking two people, that is, a husband and wife. Women’s habit and condition is mostly such that they are unable to walk and run much. Despairing, she says to her husband: “Kill me, so that I may be saved from the evil of these kafirs; there will be no claim of any kind against you.” The husband killed this wife. Now what is the ruling of the Shari‘a regarding this husband: will he be “abiding forever in the Fire” or not?

Answer

This killing is haram.
