Donating to a mandir

Question

I gave some rupees towards the collection for a mandir (Hindu temple), for which we took a receipt from them. Then I regretted it, feeling that I had made a mistake. So on this matter too I would like proofs of the religion in the light of the Qur’an and hadith.

Answer

On some pretext, take that money back from them, and then give it with the intention that you are giving it to those collectors; after that it is their affair to spend it wherever they please.
