The ruling on one who contributes to Durga Puja
Question
What is the ruling on a Muslim who gives contributions to the Durga Puja (a Hindu festival of worship of the goddess Durga) and the “Sarsh Puja” (a Hindu rite of worship) of the Hindus?
Answer
If he gives the contribution regarding the puja as something good, he is a grave sinner, and it is necessary for him to repent (tawba) immediately. If he gives the contribution because of some compulsion, he should give it with the intention of giving it to the person who came to collect the contribution, and not give it directly for the puja.
