Helping in the construction of a mandir

Question

A certain man is a Muslim, religious and peace-loving. Within his landed estate there is a village in which only Hindus live; there is not a single Muslim household. The residential land is in their possession, and there is no tax or levy on it from the landlord. All the villagers are subject to the landlord, and the landlord intends to keep them pleased in every way, because these are times of prosperity for cultivators. They want a mandir (Hindu temple)

Answer

If there is the power to prevent it and building the mandir depends on the landlord’s permission, then preventing it is necessary and giving permission is impermissible; and helping in it is haram in every case and a grave sin (ma‘siya).
