Is there a fixed limit for intercourse?

Question

How much right does a woman have over a man with respect to intimacy: once a week, once a month or once a year? Please write in terms of both the fatwa and taqwa (God-consciousness).

Answer

Judicially (qadaʾan), a woman’s right lapses after a single time, such that after that she cannot present it and demand the annulment (faskh) of the nikah. However, the requirement of religious conscience (diyana) is that it will be wajib from time to time. The Shariʿa has fixed no period for this: it depends on strength, health and other circumstances.
