When is intimacy with a pregnant woman harmful?

Question

Up to what point may one be intimate with a pregnant woman? And is refraining from intimacy wajib, sunna or mustahabb?

Answer

The instruction to refrain from intimacy is for the sake of protecting the pregnancy. When it harms it, one should refrain; and when it is harmful and when it is not is something to be asked of a physician.
