Accumulating wealth and intimacy with one’s wife — to what extent are they fard? To what extent wajib? To what extent sunna? To what extent mustahabb? To what extent mubah? And to what extent haram?

Earning wealth through halal means and keeping it to the extent needed to fulfil obligatory rights is wajib; giving one’s wife maintenance (nafaqa) in the amount of a whole year’s expenses is sunna.
