Preventing a wife from meeting her parents

Question

(1) The gist of the question is this: my son-in-law Muhammad Rafiq has held back my daughter and does not let her meet me; in fact he is greedy for money. What is the Shariʿa ruling regarding Muhammad Rafiq? (2) In fact, the nikah was contracted through the mediation of a certain respected schoolteacher by deceiving me; the respected schoolteacher is also a party to this. What is the Shariʿa ruling?

Answer

(1) If the facts are as stated, then this act of Muhammad Rafiq is blameworthy in every respect, both in terms of the Shariʿa and morally. (2) If the respected schoolteacher was also a party to this deception, then his act deserves abhorrence and reproach.
