Salam to one who is praying
Question
If a person is in prayer and someone who comes greets him with salam, is it necessary for him to reply verbally or by a gesture?
Answer
When a person is occupied with prayer, he should not be greeted with salam, for this is makruh. If someone greets him out of ignorance, he should not reply — neither verbally nor by a gesture. This is stated explicitly in “Shami”.
