Salam during the adhan and replying to it

Question

If someone gives salam while the adhan is being called, should one reply to the salam or not? And what is the ruling on giving salam at such a time?

Answer

During the adhan it is not wajib to reply to a salam, because responding to the adhan is dhikr, and if salam is given during dhikr, du‘a, tasbih and the like, replying to it is not wajib.
