Greeting one’s wife with salam or writing it to her
Question
Zayd said “as-salamu ‘alaykum” to his wife, or wrote it in a letter. Is this permissible or not?
Answer
Greeting one’s wife with salam and writing it in a letter is entirely correct; let there be no doubt about it. Rather, when the husband comes home, he himself should give salam and not wait, thinking: “When my wife gives salam, I will reply.”
