Use of cream and powder by boys

Question

Some boys apply cream and powder. Is it permissible for men to apply them? Obviously, when they apply them in the daytime, adornment alone is the aim.

Answer

Things that are a distinctive mark of women — men are not permitted to use them; likewise, whatever is a distinctive mark of disbelievers or of the sinful is also not permitted to be used. Examine your question against this rule and derive the answer.
