A watch, a gold chain and the like
Question
Question: Is wearing a watch permissible or not? If it is permissible, what about having the case, dial and chain of a watch made of gold or having them gold-plated, or having the nib of a pen made of gold, and having the buttons of a shirt, kurta (long shirt) and the like made of gold and silver? What is the ruling on rolled gold?
Answer
Keeping a watch in order to know the time — so that the order of every task remains correct, does not shift from its time, and time is not wasted — is correct, and tying it on the wrist is also correct, but the case, dial and chain should not be of gold. If there is a gold plating on it, there is no harm.
