The ruling on cheek and throat hair and the length of the beard
Question
Question: Is it permissible to have the hair on the cheeks and the throat plucked or shaved, or not? Some people say that this is not part of the beard. They also say that the beard should not be trimmed at all, because (the command of) i‘fa’ (letting the beard grow) is unrestricted. Therefore please cite a hadith from which it is established that trimming what exceeds a fistful is wajib or sunna, and let the hadith be strong, like the hadith of i‘fa’.
Answer
Plucking and shaving the hair on the cheeks and the throat is permissible according to the Shari‘a; not shaving it is better.
