Which clothing is permissible in Islam; coat and trousers

Question: Please indicate which garments it is permissible to use in the religion of Islam. Is it permissible to wear a coat and trousers in India?

Answer

The waist-cloth, kurta (a long loose shirt), cap, ‘imama (turban) and wrap — this clothing is generally transmitted from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; trousers are also transmitted. The waist-cloth or trousers should be above the ankle — covering the ankle is prohibited. Furthermore, one should avoid clothing that is a specific distinctive mark (shi‘ar)
