Buying government land at auction
Question
There is a piece of land whose owner is the government. If bidding for this land is held without the government’s permission, will it be valid to take it or not? And may the money for which it is auctioned be given to a mosque or a madrasa or not?
Answer
Since the government, having ended the ownership of the landlord, has become the owner, auctioning it will be valid with its permission. So if the village headman had permission and he held the auction, it is valid for the buyer to buy; and if the money of its price is given for the mosque with the intention of earning reward (thawab)
