A Feast Held for a Mawlid and a Circumcision

Question

People hold a mawlid and, along with it, have a circumcision performed on the same night — so that in the meal the intention of both the mawlid and the circumcision is evidently present. In such a case, is it permissible or not for the respected scholar who has been invited to recite the mawlid to eat the food?

Answer

Calling and inviting people to a circumcision is not established in the Sacred Law; and in the customary mawlid there are also several faults: for instance, the narrations recited in it are, according to the muhaddithun, mawdu‘, that is, false, and whoever attributes to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ something he ﷺ did not say — his abode is in Hell.
