A Particular Manner of Holding the Mawlid

Question

People all gather together and, loudly, at the top of their voices, joining their voices as one, recite and have recited the salawat and the mawlid for the sake of isal al-thawab (conveying reward to the dead), reward in both worlds, blessing for the house and protection from afflictions and calamities.

Answer

The blessed remembrance of the Noble Prophet ﷺ — whether it be mention of his acts of worship, his dealings, his habits or anything else — without binding oneself to a date and a month, is beyond doubt a cause of reward and brings recompense. But holding a mawlid gathering in the customary manner is a baseless bid‘a sayyi’a (evil innovation) and impermissible.
