Fixing the Wedding Date: Avoiding the 3rd, 13th and 23rd

Question

There is a widespread custom that on the occasion of a wedding people fix a date and say that it must not be the 3rd, 13th or 23rd of the month, while any of the remaining dates may be fixed. And if at some time the 2nd or the like has been fixed, it happens that the nikah is performed during the day so that the 3rd does not set in. What is the ruling of the Sacred Law on this?

Answer

This custom has no basis in the Sacred Law; adhering to it is not necessary.
