Exemption from the Punishment of the Grave

Question

The jurists ﵏ have mentioned eight persons who are not subjected to the reckoning and punishment of the grave until the Day of Judgement. To what extent is this correct, and who are the remaining six who may be exempt from the reckoning and punishment — as in “Mazahir-e Haqq”, vol. 2, p. 9, where the kinds of martyrs are recorded?

Answer

In “Radd al-Muhtar”, vol. 1, p. 891, the martyr, the murabit (one guarding the frontier), the one who died of the plague, the one who remained patient in a time of plague and died of something other than the plague, the siddiq, and children have also been counted among those who will not undergo reckoning in the grave.
