The Soul Entering the Form of a Devil After Death

Question

Does a person, after death, enter the form of a devil? When a devil overpowers someone, oil over which “Qul huwa Allahu ahad”, the surah of ta‘awwudh (“al-Falaq”) and “al-Nas” have been recited is poured into his ear, and he is questioned — and he tells his name and place; mostly the names are those of Muslims. What is this?

Answer

A person’s entering the form of a devil after death is not established by any authentic narration. However, it is possible that he (the devil) comes upon someone and gives, as his own, the name of that deceased person, or that some other jinn-devil comes and gives that name as his own.
